Local Catskills Author, Liza Laird Warming Hearts and Fingers this Winter with Yoga of Yarn

[FORESTBURGH, NY] – In this time of winter reflection and resolution, local author Liza Laird’s Yoga of Yarn intertwines the realms and disciplines of knitting and yoga, warming hearts, fingers, and core and taking readers on a fulfilling journey of self-discovery.

If your interests or resolutions involve yoga or knitting, two of the most beloved and prominent pursuits of this era, this beautifully written and illustrated go-to guide will take you on a thoughtful exploration of the relationship of fiber crafts--especially knitting--to yoga, meditation, and internal serenity. Using a unique combination of yoga philosophy, movements, meditations, breathing techniques and stitch patterns, Yoga of Yarn re-establishes a knitting practice on a new, stronger foundation -- a foundation that not only enhances the experience as knitters, but also helps maintain a centered calm in every aspect of our lives.

As a knitter, yogi, mom, and homesteader in the Catskills, Liza has been daily honing and implementing these disciplines and teaching them in knitting and mindfulness classes and while hosting retreats around the world.

Within the pages of Yoga or Yarn, you will find how simple movements can lighten your mind and body. You will explore different breathing techniques for calmer knitting and discover knitting patterns written for knitters who want to explore meditation as they stitch.

No prior yoga or meditation experience necessary. This practical and accessible guide will fit in your project bag and be with you whenever you need it. Nearly a decade in the making,Yoga of Yarn is the go-to guide for those knitter's who want to take a spiritual journey with their craft. A gorgeous tribute to our yarn, our bodies, and our very souls.

“Liza understands that knitting, like yoga and meditation, can be a pathway to wellness, even more so when all three are combined.” - Melanie Falick (author of Making a Life).
